Looking Ahead

Further expansions are on the horizon, including the second North-South S-Bahn line (referred to as the S21 or City-S-Bahn), extensions to Stahnsdorf and towards Falkensee, as well as the unexpected reactivation of the Siemensbahn, which will contribute to both urban and economic development. Additionally, more new trains will be needed to meet the growing demands of the network.

There’s Still Room for Visions

Future possibilities include:

  • An S-Bahn line on the eastern Berlin Outer Ring
  • A connection from the southeast via Görlitzer Bahnhof, Moritzplatz, to Potsdamer Platz
  • Expanded links to surrounding regions

But the most crucial aspects for the future remain:

  • Reliability
  • Safety
  • Cleanliness
  • Unified operations
  • Frequent train service

With these priorities in place, we can confidently look forward to celebrating 125 years of the Berlin S-Bahn!
