2024: 100 Years of the Berlin S-Bahn. 100 Years of Electric Travel Through Time
Hop on an exciting journey through the 100-year history of the Berlin S-Bahn. Travel back to a Berlin and a Germany that, 100 years ago, experienced hyperinflation, where political rivalries and power struggles shook the foundations of democracy, and inventions like the electric refrigerator and the electric typewriter emerged into the world. Some of it feels very familiar even today… This story also includes the beginning of electric train operations in suburban traffic, between Stettiner Bahnhof (now Nordbahnhof) and Bernau: the birth of the Berlin S-Bahn on August 8th 1924.
With financial support from the Berlin Senate, we've gone all out and have put together a major exhibition to mark this anniversary.
We are delighted to have you visit us virtually. However, please don’t miss the chance to see our exhibition at Berlin Ostbahnhof and learn so much more. Here, we can only offer a glimpse of what we present on-site.
Perhaps we've sparked your curiosity, and you’d like to support us in our volunteer work? Either way, we are looking forward to your visit!
