Attractive opening times are planned at the new location, which will make it easy (and frequent) to visit. The new museum will be open at least four days a week. Exact dates are yet to be determined.

The S-Bahn Museum should be economically viable and able to develop further. That will cost money – and public coffers are not always well filled. The visitors will therefore also have to contribute to covering the costs.

But we hope that the new S-Bahn-Museum will open on August 8th 2024, the centenary of the Berlin S-Bahn.

Das alte Museum am S-Bahnhof Griebnitzsee wurde ausschließlich ehrenamtlich betrieben. Dies wird sich – um deutlich mehr Öffnungszeiten anbieten zu können – ändern. Dennoch wird auch weiterhin ehrenamtliches Engagement gefragt sein.

Das Berliner S-Bahn-Museum ist einzigartig!

Gegründet wurde es am 10. Februar 1989. Seitdem arbeiten viele Mitglieder des Deutschen Bahnkunden-Verbandes e. V. rein ehrenamtlich an der Ausgestaltung der Sammlung, der Präsentation und der Gewährleistung der Öffnungstage.

The future S-Bahn-Museum is planned to be located at Lichtenberg station and will be connected excellently to the S-Bahn, U-Bahn and regional trains. There will be also bus and tram connections.
The temporary museum facilities at Gesundbrunnen station (S-, U-, regional and long-distance train connections as well as buses) can be found on the median of Behmstraße at the junction with Badstraße.
